"Your Ticket to Paradise:  Righteousness Through Faith"
Romans 3. 21-31

YOUR TICKET TO PARADISE:  RIGHTEOUSNESS BY FAITH Romans 3. 21-31 I.  ONE OF PROBLEMS WHEN READING ROMANS IS “BIG ____.” -In this passage alone there are several:  Righteousness, Law, Justified/Justice, Redemption, Sacrifice, Atonement, Forebearance II.  1st GOD IS ABSOLUTELY ______- HOLY- & RIGHTEOUS A.  Thus, everyone will be accountable to God… B.  Ticket Illustration:  which represents ________________ -So who here- should receive a ticket?   -If you don’t have a ticket, then you cannot get into Heaven. III.  BUT NOW, THERE IS ANOTHER _____ TO GET A TICKET! A.  The ticket- RIGHTEOUSNESS- is available for believers B.  The ticket comes as a gift (________) from God because Jesus – will redeem you. IV.  REDEMPTION/ATONEMENT:  more big words…big concepts? A.  When it comes to life- our sin amasses a ______ B.  Jesus will atone for (pay for) your debt.  C.  ____________- your bill is paid V.  HOW DOES THIS REDEMPTION & ATONEMENT WORK? A.  __________- God’s patient waiting for the right time to make things right. B.  Believers – past, present, and future- needed redemption: to have debts paid. C.  So God waited, and at the _________time (On Calvary’s Cross) D.  WHAT GOD REQUIRES- HE __________ - God is JUST AND JUSTIFIER… VI.  PAUL CONCLUDES:  “WHERE IS _________?”  A.  Does anyone have a ticket?  B.  Why is it that no one can boast?   BECAUSE there is ONLY ______ WAY TO BE RIGHTEOUS…(GET A TICKET) BY FAITH

"No One"
Romans 2:1-3: 20

NO ONE ROMANS 2.1 - 3.20 I.  HOW GOOD ARE YOU AT MAKING EXCUSES? II.  ROMANS CHAPTER 2- 3.20  ( Four section headings which commmunicate the message of these verses) A.  God’s _________Judgment (2.1-16) B.  The Jews and the Law (2.17- 29) C.  _________   Faithfulness (3.1-8) D.  Conclusion: ___ One Is Righteous (3.9-20) III.  DO ______ THINK OF YOURSELF AS A “PRETTY GOOD PERSON?”  A.  This passage seems to indicate that we are _____ “pretty good guys” B.  We are vile…corrupt…unwilling… filled with lame excuses IV.  DO YOU UNDERSTAND WHY PAUL CONSIDERS THE MESSAGE OF JESUS’ DEATH, AND RESURRECTION SUCH “GOOD NEWS?” A.  Paul says: I am not ashamed… B.  What do you think about the Good News of Jesus? V.  TODAY/THIS WEEK:  There is ______ and Good News: A.  Goal- is not to send you home feeling hopeless, and ashamed, and guilty B.  But, to encourage you to appreciate and appropriate Jesus’ Good News! *I hope you can begin to grasp the magnitude of God’s grace  *Live as a “Jesus person” who shows your gratitude for the Good News

"Our Universal Need"
Romans 1:18-2:29

OUR UNIVERSAL NEED Romans 1: 18- 2.29 Opening Sentence: It has been said that a clear conscience is just the result of a bad memory. **The theme of Romans 1-2:   We all have a universal need: salvation from the righteous wrath of God. I.  THE GOSPEL IS THE  ______ OF GOD FOR SALVATION  **In order to fully explain the Good News of Salvation, Paul first shows the Universal Problem of All Mankind. II.  THE WRATH OF GOD REVEALED FROM __________(V. 18-19) A.  God has made it plain about himself since the beginning…(v. 20) B.  So, God “_____  _____  _____”  C.  If people refuse to believe in God, then they rationalize that there is no need to feel guilty for sin…since there really isn’t any sin III.  EXAMPLES – of man’s futile thinking, and utter foolishness: A.  _______ of sinful sexual desires… commonplace in many Roman provinces B.  Other examples of man’s foolish thinking and utter foolishness C.  Depraved _______ lead to horrible actions- Paul lists some. IV.  SO- WHO ARE THE ONES DESERVING OF GOD’S _______? A.  The obvious flagrant sinners B.  __ ____.  Romans 2. 1 - You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge another, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things. V.  THE WRATH OF GOD: A.  Has been seen in past times- already being revealed from heaven (v. 18) B.  The main judgement day lies ________ C.  God says to us here in Romans- “My presence and power and creation are obvious to all.”  No ________. VI.  PAUL SAYS: THERE IS _______ **Salvation from God’s deserved wrath is available to all who put faith and trust in Jesus Christ.

I AM NOT ASHAMED ROMANS 1. 1-17 I.  _________  CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE II.  PAUL’S LETTER: A.  Includes _________ of himself B.  Words of affirmation to the church C.  His great desire- to tell the ______  news  …I am not ashamed III.  EVER BEEN ____________? A.  Different from embarrassed B.  Why might people be ashamed of the Gospel? IV.  PAUL’S INTRODUCTION: A.  3 descriptive words: slave, ________, sent   B.  The Good News V.  PRAISE, _________, AND PLANS: A.  The Praise for their “well-known faith”  B.  The Prayers  for them…and that he (Paul) may come to Rome C.  The Plan VI.  NOT ASHAMED OF THE GOOD NEWS:  “THE GOSPEL”  A.  It is the ___________ OF GOD B.  The Gospel message brings _________ to all who believe VII.  PAUL WANTS TO COME ___ ________TO SHARE THE GOOD NEWS   A.  The good news of Jesus’ sacrifice and our possible salvation is written down for us B.  Paul tells and explains this great “good news” in detail
